In 15th century Konarzewo, Jarchlino and Kulice passed into the possession of family Dewitz, from Dobra Nowogardzka, for 400 years until 1726.
Major August Fryderyk von Bismarck from Altmark Schönhausen served in Pomeranian city Goleniów at Ausbach-Bayreuth dragoon regiment. Thanks to marriage and inheritance he became the owner of Konarzewo, Jarchlino and Kulice. However, he could not enjoy the property for long, because he died in battle under Czaslau in 1742. His son, Karl Alexander inherited Schönhausen, his second son inherited Pomeranian properties. Karl Alexander from Schönhausen was grandfather of Otto von Bismarck.
Chancellor's father inherited Pomeranian properties from his cousin in 1816 and moved from Altmark to Konarzewo. Those times, the manor was a modest building with brick nogged timber walls, inhabited by many Pomeranian and Altmark families for many years. We know this building from later drawing by Bernard, brother of Otto von Bismarck. The drawing shows simple two-storied five-axial building, with two short, tri-axial, single storied wings on both sides.
Otto von Bismarck future Prussian Prime Minister and the first Chancellor of Reich, spent his childhood in Konarzewo. At the age of 7 he was sent to Berlin to elitist boarding school. He returned to Konarzewo at the age of 24, to administer the property (1839-1846), first with his brother Bernard, later on his own. He grew up here, and met people who opened his doors to career. In 1846 he leased Konarzewo and set off to actively do politics. He sold the property inherited from his father, containing area around Konarzewo and Jarchlino to his nephew Filip in 1868.
Property stayed in the family von Bismarck until 1945. Last owners form the family were brothers Klaus von Bismarck (1912-1997) and Philipp von Bismarck (1913-2006) sons of Gottfried von Bismarck (1881–1928). After early death of his father, Klaus inherited Konarzewo and Jarchlino, and Philipp inherited Kulice. Klaus intended to (after passing the high school exams) get agricultural education, and as the older son, take over administration of family farm. However, first he had to serve in the army. Few months later, Third Reich invaded Poland starting Second World War. Klaus, as mobilised officer, served all war in 32nd Infantry Division in Wermacht. Philipp’s lot was similar, but as General Staff Officer, he was around General Hennig von Tresckow and joined group of officers conspiring against Hitler.
End of war met brothers in western occupation zone, where they stayed forever. On the initiative of Soviet Russia (accepted by the USA and United Kingdom), areas where their family properties were located, were given to Poland (in exchange for Polish territory in the east). German inhabitants either escaped from upcoming front line, or later were displaced according to the Great Powers decision. These areas were gradually populated by Polish migrants from lost Polish eastern territories.
